Daily Walk

I’ve been walking everyday, and taking pictures everyday!  I share them here:

The  Daily Walk is a little peek into my daily life, something different to get a glimpse in to the life of the person behind the blog.

I’d like to invite anybody who takes photos to put your link in the comment of my Daily Walk, that way we can visit other blogs and have a glimpse into their life, too!

What I’m Reading Now

I’ve picked up a new ARC by Hal Archer.  His newest book in the Jake Mudd series to be released June 27th called Forced Vengeance.

Here’s the Goodreads blurb:

Jake’s days of operating under the radar are over. Old enemies are now intent on making his living as much a struggle for survival as for credits.

To secure a new black market license, he travels the backwaters of the galaxy to a sprawling cesspool in space, a city of dead ends and lost hopes.

Staying alive becomes a full-time job, and Jake is blindsided when he’s framed for murders he didn’t commit.

Proving his innocence and surviving become one and the same as he is forced into trial by combat against some of the worst criminals the galaxy has to offer.

But he’s facing more than the fight for his life, when he learns his enemies are targeting Sarah. Time is running out for Jake to save himself, clear his name, and reunite with his beloved ship before she’s taken for good.

He didn’t want to play dirty, but they left him no choice.

Off the Blog

Thank you to all the new followers here on my blog!  Welcome and I hope you enjoy my posts. I follow back and look forward to your posts as well!

My youngest son received Gold honours at his awards ceremony this week!  I’m so proud of him!

I’ve signed up for Camp Nano!  I’ve done Nanowrimo in November for the past three years but this is the first time committing to writing in July.

Camp NaNoWriMo is a virtual writer’s retreat, designed for maximum flexibility and creativity. We have Camp sessions in both April and July, and we welcome word-count goals between 30 and 1,000,000. In addition, writers can tackle any project they’d like, including new novel drafts, revision, poetry, scripts, and short stories.

So, my plan is to revise a novel that I’ve finished the first draft.  I’m committing to 30 hours.  Thats an hour a day, should be doable!  Hopefully I will get a lot more than that accomplished!

Do you enjoy writing?  Will you be participating in Camp Nano this July?  It’s not too late to sign up!

Thanks for dropping by 🙂

Sunday Post

Happy Father’s Day to all the wonderful Dads out there!

I’m excited to be picking my husband up at the airport today!  He’s just getting back from a couple of days of training in Baltimore.  My sons will be happy to have him back.  They’ve had to put up with my cooking for almost a whole week!

Of course, we’re going to have hubby’s favourite meal, fried chicken.  It’s something we don’t have very often, so it will be a treat.  And my own mom and dad will be coming over, too, so should be fun!

What about you?  Any plans for Father’s Day?

This Week On The Blog

Tags and Awards:

I love getting tags and awards and I’m highlighting them here not to brag or anything like that, or show how popular I am.  That’s just not me lol.  But I do feel honoured that these blogs thought enough of me to tag me to participate and that makes me happy!

I’d love it if you’d check out some of the blogs that I’ve tagged, and those that have tagged me because they’re awesome, entertaining and have wonderful things to contribute.

Here they are, go ahead and check them out!  Click on the links to see the list of blogs that I tagged for the award.

I only did one Daily Walk post this week.  Have a peek at some of the photos here.

Book Beginnings and the Friday 56  was fun.  I featured the Seventh Crow by Sherry D. Ramsey.

I reposted a blog post from Mind Elate called Six Simple Steps to Help Find Your Passion.  She has excellent posts on psychology, the human mind, the soul and connecting with people on a deeper level. I hope you will take the time to check out her blog.

What I’ve Been Reading

I’ve been slowly reading Stephen King’s On Writing.  I’m really enjoying it…I love King’s style of writing.  His writing  is so easy, so natural, as thought he’s just having a conversation with you.  That takes true writing talent.

I’ve just received a new ARC from Hal Archer that will be released on June 27 called Forced Vengeance.  The Jake Mudd series is a well written, entertaining and fun sci-fi series and I’m excited to start 🙂

Off the Blog

I saw WonderWoman…what an incredible movie! I don’t want to say too  much, I hate when all the hype raises your expectations and then when you finally see the movie you are disappointed.

I loved Wonder Woman as a kid.  Who didn’t try to spin aroundand turn into a superhero?!  Great memories!

I spent a fair bit of time polishing off a short story that I’ve been working on, mostly revising it.  I’m hoping this week to have some beta readers have a look at it and get thoughts as to whether its any good or not.  Let me know if you are interested.

For some reason, and I suspect its something I’ve done  and not actually WordPress itself, but I’m having another issue with people not getting my posts.  I’m self hosted so I was having conflicts with the community based  Some features that are used there don’t work on the self-hosted sites.

Some were saying my posts were showing up in e-mails but not in the Reader.  Others don’t see my posts at all and have to go looking for them.  I’m curious to know how you came here to read this…was it in your email or on your reader?

Okay, all!  Thanks for stopping by and reading and I hope you have a great week!

Movies and Cake: The Sunday Post June 11, 2017

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer. It’s a chance to share News. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog.

I’m slow on getting my Sunday post out, but it’s better late than never, right?

Andrew’s cake-had to share this!

I usually like to have it all done on Saturday night, but it’s been kind of crazy around here!

My oldest son just finished college last week and found out on Thursday that he has a job!  He is now the newest software developer at Marcato.  Exciting, right?  We had a little party for him on Friday.  With cake and everything.

When my husband picked up the cake, he looked at the young guy who did the writing and said, “you aren’t very good at this, are you?”  The poor guy just shrugged and said “Uh, no.”  Oh well.  We had a good laugh over it.

Saturday night I spent some quality time with my family.  We went to see The Mummy at the Drive-In.  Drive-ins are few are far between these days.  It’s supports local business and hey, we enjoy the experience!

Its a sunny, summer evening, the sun just about to set.  Soon, it will be dark and the first stars will begin to twinkle.  We are all cozied up in the car in our comfy clothes, each of us with a bag of salty popcorn and some chocolate.  ‘No,’ I say, “I don’t want french fries.” as the boys make their way to the canteen.

They return to the car with their little paper dishes piled high with crisp fries slathered in ketchup.  The smells is intoxicating and I agree to have just one.  Then another, then another.  They have learned to tolerate me.  The calories don’t count, I tell them, if it’s someone else’s snack 😉

The Mummy held a lot of promise.  I was really excited to see it but it was hokey as old hell.  I wasn’t crazy about Tom Cruise’s character or his acting.  Some of the subplots were just, well bizarre.

Didn’t matter.  We had fun.  And the fries were awesome.

Awards and Tags

It was a great week for award and tags here at Inspiration Pie!  Jay at thisismytruthnow nominated me with the Cramm award.

I was also the proud recipient of The Real Neat Blog Award thanks to Ash at Mans Poetry.  Here’s my post here,

And I was also tagged in the Mid-Year Freak Out Book Tag by Moohnshine’s Corner.  I am still working on this.  Sometimes these tags take some thinking and that can be a bit slow for me sometimes 😉

Jay also tagged me for the Unpopular Opinions Tag.  That was a hard one!

I participated in the Book Beginnings on Friday meme as well as Friday 56 from Freda’s voice.  The book I chose was the Mists of Avalon and if you’d like to check that out, here’s the link.

I did one review this week.  That was Deadly Cargo by Hal Archer.

I posted some pictures from my Daily Walk if you’re interested in them they are here and here.

This week started out with the opening of the Pierscape Art Festival.  I had entered four paintings and sold one!

Pierscape Art Festival

Some paintings in Pierscape. Mine is the dove (2nd from the left)

I have to admit, I’m feeling a bit bittersweet about this because the one I sold (Blue Bottles, to the right) was one of my favourites.

My paintings and I become like old friends.  I will miss it but I’m sure it will be going to a good home.

WordPress Woes

When I was researching the best way to go for blogging, a lot of information out there pointed to WordPress.  It’s a great blogging platform, so, naturally I went to and set up my very own account.  Step one.  Check!

I then learned that there are two different WordPresses, .com and .org. They both have their pros and cons, but that’s for another post!

So, I started a self hosted WordPress blog.  This one.  But, I did something wrong because traffic from other blogs was being diverted to my inactive account.  When I realized this, I deleted it.  Not a good idea!  I ended up losing all my followers up to that point, plus it created some weird quirky problems, for example, I lost my Comment box on my posts!

I was a little stressed and fixing this took a fair chunk of time.  I swear, I checked every box in my dashboard to get the comment box back.  A day and a half later, I finally found the answer, right on the troubleshooting site.  One check mark fixed the comment box issue.

Do you ever have problems with WordPress?

I finally finished reading Deadly Cargo by Hal Archer.  It’s a great sci-fi that I enjoyed, more on that and a review coming up this week!

Coming up This Week:

  • Book Review: Deadly Cargo

Sunday Post May 28 2017

Hey Everybody!  Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted at the Caffeinated Book Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week on your blog and showcase books and things we have received. Share news about what is coming up on our blog for the week ahead.

Our view from the cabin.

So, last weekend was awesome!  I got to spend two nights and three days with amazing writer friends, doing writing exercises and free writes.  We ate like queens and and generally just had a great time.  We stayed in a cabin about an hour outside of town.  The weather was a bit cold and windy, but that was okay!  Perfect for writing in our cozy cabin (even if the electric fireplace didn’t cast can heat 🙂

More on our weekend in another post, but check out some of my amazing friends while you’re waiting.  Sherry Ramsay at and Kerry Campbell from The Geeky Book Lady.  Awesome peeps…go follow them!!

Top 10 Tuesday

Check out my Top 10 Tuesday list here:

WWW Wednesday

My Waiting on Wednesday post is here  It’s a list of what I’m currently reading, what I’ve just finished reading, and what I want to read next.

Feeling the Blogging Love!

I received the Leibster award!  Yay!  I was so excited!  So I did my post, and tagged a bunch of awesome bloggers but the weird thing was, I got hardly any traffic that day.  Not. One. Response.

Not sure what happened but I think something weird was going on with my blog. I hope I got it fixed.  Being a new blogger, I am still getting familiar with all the plugins and whatnot, but being self hosted might not have been the best route to go since I am just learning the ropes.

I think I’ll try reposting this next week, but feel free to check it out now.

TGIF: Book Beginnings and Friday 56

Book Beginnings is a meme where you post the first lines of a book you are reading.  I chose to do the Seventh Son from the Last Apprentice Series.  I also participated in the Friday 56 meme and posted an excerpt from page 56.  Check it out here 🙂

Searching Saturday

Saturday was my Books that Deserve More Love post

Searching Saturday is a weekly meme created by Nikki at The Night is Dark and Full of Books.  The aim is to search a book (or multiple books) that is new-to-you and fits the weekly theme. This could be a book to add to your TBR, or just to address on your blog. It’s up to you! You can search as many as you want, wherever you want.

This week, the search was on for books that have under 2,000 Goodreads ratings but are published at least 2 months ago.  Here is my list…I hope you enjoy.

Coming Up!

This week, I will have a post on our awesome writer’s weekend…Writers, you might be interested in this.  We did some awesome exercises that I will share here!

Top 10 Tuesday will be the Top Ten Most Anticipated Books For The Second Half of 2017!

Hope everyone is having an fantastic weekend and a very happy Memorial Day Weekend to my American friends!
